A bulk density apparatus is a laboratory device used to determine the bulk density of powders, granules, or similar particulate materials. Bulk density is defined as the mass of a material divided by the total volume it occupies, including the volume of the particles and the voids between them.

• Measure will be machined to accurate internal dimensions and will be provided with handles.
• It will be watertight, and of sufficient rigidity to retain its form under rough usage, and protected against corrosion.
• The measure will be of 3-, 15- and 30-liters capacity, according to the maximum nominal size of the coarsest particles of aggregate and will comply with the requirements given in Table I of IS:2386 (Part III)
